Cars On The Road on Disney+:  All We know so far

Disney is returning with a fresh addition to the Cars franchise called Cars On The Road, produced by Pixar specifically for Disney+. This new spin-off series will feature the beloved talking cars, Lightning McQueen and Mater, in a nine-part animated adventure. Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy will be returning to lend their voices to McQueen and Mater, while Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, Lloyd Sherr, and Quinta Brunson will also join the cast as Sally Carrera, Ramone, Fillmore, and Ivy, respectively. The series is set to premiere on September 8, 2022.

The new Cars spin-off series is being written by Steve Purcell and produced by Mark Sondheimer. It is a creation of Pixar, and while we don’t have all the details yet, fans are excited to learn more about this upcoming addition to the Cars franchise. When and where to watch Cars On The Road?

According to Disney’s announcement, Cars On The Road will debut exclusively on Disney+ on Disney+ Day, which falls on September 8, 2022. This animated series will consist of nine episodes that follow the exciting adventures of Lightning McQueen and Mater. Disney+ Day is a special occasion where Disney will release new content from popular brands such as Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, Disney, and National Geographic. In addition, special experiences and events will be organized for fans and subscribers to enjoy.

Disney+ typically releases new content at 3 am ET/12 am PT, allowing viewers to watch the Pixar series at that time. Since Cars On The Road is created exclusively for Disney+, it won’t be available on other streaming platforms such as HBO or Netflix. Disney+ is the only platform where viewers can enjoy this series.

The new spin-off series, Cars On The Road, follows the success of three Cars films and two previous animated series, Cars Toons – Mater’s Tall Tales (2008-2012) and Tales from Radiator Springs (2013-14). The direction of the series is handled by Steve Purcell (Episodes 1, 2, 8), Bobby Podesta (Episodes 5, 6, 9), and Brian Fee (Episodes 3, 4, 7). The score for all nine episodes is composed by Jake Monaco. This talented team brings their expertise to create an exciting and enjoyable experience for Cars fans in this new spin-off series.

The trailer for the spin-off, which is a little over two minutes long, offered a first-look at Lightning McQueen and Mater embarking on yet another adventure.

In addition to Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy voicing McQueen and Mater, other characters from the Cars franchise can also be spotted in the series. Cars On The Road will mark the first full-length television series for the franchise.

The series will follow anthropomorphic cars McQueen and Mater on an epic cross-country road trip across the United States as they journey eastwards to attend Mater’s sister’s wedding. Different episodes will feature different scenarios and challenges for the two cars. For instance, being chased by dinosaur-like cars.

In a statement, director Steve Purcell said, “The series is a romp across the country with Lightning McQueen and Mater. Like any real road trip, every day is a new mini-adventure with unexpected twists and turns.”
