Anticipating Daredevil Season 4: All the Latest Details on the Disney+ Revival
In 2015, Marvel Television and Netflix formed a unique collaboration to bring a new type of Marvel superhero to the screen. This superhero was Daredevil, a crime fighter who operated in the gritty and violent world of the streets. The show quickly gained popularity and paved the way for other Marvel shows on Netflix.
Marvel’s Daredevil enjoyed three successful seasons, with episodes released on Netflix from 2015 to 2018. The show’s popularity led to the creation of other interconnected series set in the same universe, including The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. However, despite the show’s positive reception and a desire for a fourth season from the showrunner, the series was ultimately canceled after its third season.
A New Daredevil Series Is in the Works at Disney Plus
Marvel Studios is developing a new Daredevil series for Disney+. Matt Corman and Chris Ord will write and executive produce the show, as reported by Variety. Rumors about a Disney+ series featuring the character have circulated for some time, and these rumors gained credibility when Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who played Daredevil and Kingpin in the Netflix series, respectively, appeared in recent Marvel projects. Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” while D’Onofrio returned as Wilson Fisk in “Hawkeye.”
While there is no official announcement from Marvel regarding Daredevil Season 4, the hiring of Matt Corman and Chris Ord suggests progress is being made on the project. Here’s a summary of what is known about Daredevil Season 4 so far.
Daredevil Season 4 Confirmation Status
On May 19, 2022, it was confirmed that a new Daredevil TV series is in development. Matt Corman and Chris Ord, known for creating the show Covert Affairs, have been announced as the writers and executive producers for the new series. Covert Affairs aired for five seasons on the USA Network from 2010 to 2014.
Since Disney and Marvel Studios have not provided many details about the upcoming Daredevil project, it is still in the early stages of production. The show’s scriptwriters have recently been hired, so it is difficult to determine a specific release date at this time. However, it is unlikely that we will see any new Daredevil content until 2023.
Currently, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are the only actors confirmed to reprise their Marvel Netflix roles in the MCU. It remains uncertain if both will appear in Daredevil Season 4. Marvel may choose to explore Kingpin’s character further in other Disney+ shows like Echo, rather than immediately bringing him together with Daredevil. Hopefully, more cast members will be confirmed soon. Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson, Daredevil’s best friend and lawyer sidekick, is a likely character to return. Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple, who played a connecting role in the Marvel Netflix series, would also be an interesting return.
Daredevil Season 4 Story
At the end of Daredevil Season 3, the story reached an interesting point. It concluded the storyline involving Kingpin and brought Matt Murdock back together with his friends Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. However, there was a setup for a new threat as Dex Poindexter, a troubled FBI agent, underwent a procedure that transformed him into the villain Bullseye. If Daredevil Season 4 continues the Marvel Netflix series, it has the potential to further explore the character of Bullseye and his role as a classic Daredevil villain.
There are rumors suggesting that Marvel and Disney want to restart the characters’ stories. This means that even though the new versions of the characters may be similar to those in the Netflix series, their experiences and stories could be different. However, no official details about the plot have been announced yet. We will have to wait for Marvel Studios to confirm a specific project involving Daredevil before we can know for sure what the story will be about.
