Fast X Part 2 Races Into Theaters in 2025

The Fast & Furious saga began over 20 years ago and with its tenth (not including spinoffs) installment, Fast X, hitting theaters, the high-octane adventure is finally beginning to end. But Fast fans needn’t worry because the finale to this larger-than-life action franchise obviously requires more than one movie to wrap up the stories of its many, many returning characters.

Vin Diesel, who has starred in the franchise since its very beginning, recently announced that a sequel to Fast X is in the works. “After this explosive summer, I will have the privilege of coming to you for Part 2 in 2025,” he said at CinemaCon 2023.

If Vin Diesel is to be believed, the Fast and Furious movies’ grand finale has kicked off with the release of Fast X. But Dominic Toretto and the family have a long way to go before we see the conclusion of their story.

Who will direct Fast X: Part 2?

Fast X saw a changing of the guard behind the camera, with Louis Leterrier replacing franchise mainstay Justin Lin as director. Leterrier is expected to return to helm Fast X: Part 2, which Universal has described as a “companion piece” to Fast X.

Who will be in the cast?

Vin Diesel will return as Dom Toretto, as will the rest of the Fast Family, including Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, and Nathalie Emmanuel.

Also returning will be new bad guy Dante, played by Jason Momoa, as well as some familiar faces who showed up towards the end of Fast X: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Gal Gadot.

What will Fast X: Part 2 be about?

We don’t know a lot about the plot of the movie yet, other than some characters’ fates remain undecided after the explosive ending of Fast X. What we do know, however, is where some of the movie might be set: in an interview with Joe, director Louis Leterrier teased that the franchise could be coming to Ireland.

“Listen, you have great roads, you have great characters, actors, amazing scenery. Why aren’t we shooting in Ireland right now, that is what I want to know. Yeah, let’s go! Just suggest to me some areas where we should shoot, and yeah, absolutely, I’ll come,” he said.

“It would be great to come to Ireland,” he continued. “I mean, our plan is that by the time we’re done with Fast & Furious, to have gone through on the seven continents, and to have visited everything and to have visited every part of the world, and Ireland is so important, we need to go there. And I know Jason Momoa will have a good time.”

When is the Fast X Part 2 release date?

The Fast X Part 2 release date is 2025.

Vin Diesel confirmed that the second part of Fast X would be coming in 2025. That will mean a two-year wait for fans waiting to see what happens next.

The exact month and day will be announced closer to the release and this post will be updated accordingly. For now, 2025 is the ballpark period that we’ve got to work with.

WILL THERE BE A FAST X: PART 3?

This is, apparently, a bit of an open question at the moment. While there have only been two parts of Fast X announced so far, according to Vin Diesel in a recent interview, there have been talks from the studio to possibly make another one, which means we’d be getting a full trilogy for the finale.
