“If there’s trouble, come find me.”
Jennifer Lopez means business in the first teaser trailer for upcoming Netflix action-thriller The Mother.
Directed by Mulan‘s Niki Caro, the movie sees Lopez’s assassin come out of hiding to protect the daughter she gave up years before and soon, both of them are on the run from dangerous men.
The brief teaser was debuted during Netflix’s Tudum event today (September 24) and sees Lopez’s character warn her daughter about their situation: “You saw what was out there. It’s going to keep coming. If there’s trouble, come find me.”

The Mother will be released on Netflix in May 2023 and also stars The Handmaid’s Tale star Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Power‘s Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci and Gael García Bernal.
Hardwick and Raci’s characters will act as allies to Lopez’s assassin, while Fiennes and Bernal are the dangerous men after both the assassin and her estranged daughter.
The movie is the first to be made under the creative partnership between Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Netflix, with Lopez producing the movie with Elaine Goldsmith Thomas, Benny Medina, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Misha Green and Marc Evans.
It marks Lopez’s first thriller movie since 2015’s The Boy Next Door, following her recent return to the rom-com genre with Marry Me and the upcoming Shotgun Wedding.
Talking of Shotgun Wedding, Prime Video recently unveiled the first-look at the new rom-com and confirmed the release date of January 27, 2023.
The movie stars Lopez as bride-to-be Darcy who has to work together with her fiancé Tom (Josh Duhamel) to save the day when their guests are taken hostage at their dream wedding. Awkward.
The Mother will be released on Netflix in May 2023.
