Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine in Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Deadpool 3’

There is news that Hugh Jackman might join Ryan Reynolds in the movie “Deadpool 3” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on September 6, 2024. However, it’s important to note that plans can change, so it’s best to stay updated through official announcements.

Reynolds, who played the character “Deadpool” in previous movies produced by 20th Century Fox, announced on social media that he and Jackman will team up for the first Deadpool movie under Disney’s ownership.

“I’m really sorry we couldn’t be at D23, but we’ve been working really hard on the next ‘Deadpool’ movie for a long time now,” Reynolds shared in the video, sitting on his couch. “I’ve had to dig deep and reflect on this one. It’s important that Deadpool’s first appearance in the MCU feels special. We want to stay true to the character, discover new layers, motivations, and meaning. Every version of Deadpool should be distinct and unique. It’s been an amazing challenge that has required me to search within myself.”

“Hey, Hugh, how about playing Wolverine again?” Reynolds asks while Jackman walks in the background of the scene.

“Yes Ryan,” Jackman replies.

Disney had previously mentioned that Deadpool would be included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but it was not clear when he would have his own movie and how it would fit into the larger Multiverse concept.

Disney acquired several comic book properties, including Deadpool, when it purchased 20th Century Fox in 2019. In addition to Deadpool, characters like the X-Men and the Fantastic Four are also scheduled to appear in upcoming films in the coming years.

Reynold’s Deadpool films stand out in Hollywood because they were rated R, which is rare for superhero movies. Both “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2” were highly successful, earning over $780 million worldwide each. Despite most MCU films being rated PG-13 or lower, Disney has agreed to maintain the R-rating for “Deadpool 3” likely because of its previous success and popularity among audiences.
