Hugh Jackman Mourns the Loss of His Beloved Dog Dali, Describing Him as a “Rockstar” Companion

The actor from Australia shared a heartbreaking update on his social media accounts. He announced the sad news that his cherished French Bulldog passed away shortly before turning 12 years old.

“Dali, our much-loved Frenchie, left us last night. He would have turned 12 next month, which is considered a good lifespan for this breed,” he shared on August 6, along with a picture of himself happily posing with the pup. “I affectionately referred to him as the ROCKSTAR, and rightfully so! He was truly extraordinary!”

In the post, Hugh, 53, also reflected on Dali’s “good life” and described him as a dog who marched to “the beat of his own drum” and “was beloved by the whole world.”

“We will miss him, but we believe he’s in heaven, howling away, being the boss and enjoying endless feasts,” he expressed. “Rest in peace, Dali Rockstar Jackman. We love you.”

The actor named his French Bulldog after the renowned artist Salvador Dali. Dali, who was full of charm, was a constant presence on the actor’s social media platforms. The actor and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, cherished their furry companion. There were numerous adorable posts featuring Dali, including pictures of him strolling through snowy New York City streets in a puffer coat and booties, visiting his dad on set, running on the beach, and snuggling with the family’s other dog, Allegra, a mix of poodle and terrier.

Hugh, who has two children, Oscar (22) and Ava (17), with his wife Deborra, has playfully mentioned in the past that while Dali may not have been the most well-behaved dog, he was adored by everyone in the family.

“When Dali became part of our family, a trainer visited our apartment. Upon seeing Dali, the trainer immediately said, ‘Oh, you have a Frenchie… I won’t waste my time or take your money,'” he shared in a May 2021 Instagram post. “But we adore Dali, whether he’s trained or not.”

Regrettably, Hugh has recently faced another loss in his family. The actor, known for his role in The Greatest Showman, shared the heartbreaking news that his father, Christopher John Jackman, passed away peacefully during the early hours of Father’s Day.

He continued, “I pray he is now at peace with God.”
