“I Am Groot” Director Commends Vin Diesel for Voicing Animated Series: “He Stepped Up and Nailed It”
Film director Kristen Lepore has expressed praise for Hollywood actor Vin Diesel, who provided the voice for the character of Groot in the animated series ‘I Am Groot’.
Vin Diesel has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for almost a decade, lending his voice to the character of Groot in several films. He has provided the voice for Groot at different ages in movies such as ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, and ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
Kristen recollected her experience of listening to Vin during the recording session and said, “I was incredibly impressed by Vin’s performance. He truly exceeded expectations and delivered an exceptional portrayal. Even after seeing the short film only once, he flawlessly went through the entire script. He is a remarkable actor who brought a unique touch to each ‘I Am Groot’ line during every take. He infused Baby Groot with so much vitality and presence.”
Executive producer Brad Winderbaum echoed Lepore’s sentiments and praised Vin Diesel for his dedication and contribution to the character. Winderbaum stated, “Vin is just as committed to portraying Groot as any of our actors are to their respective characters in the MCU. He is incredibly passionate about it. He deeply considers the purpose of each scene and how to deliver the line with the perfect inflection, ensuring those three words convey exactly what the scene requires.”
According to Winderbaum, voicing Baby Groot is not as easy as it may seem at first glance.
He explained, “It might seem simple, just three words. Anyone could do it, right? Well, let me tell you, not just anyone can do it. During the animation process, we initially use temporary recordings. But it’s only when we hear Vin’s voice that the character truly springs to life. It’s truly remarkable.”
‘I Am Groot’ is a series of five shorts directed by Kristen Lepore, who has won an Emmy Award. The shorts focus on the childhood and adventures of Baby Groot, featuring lots of humorous elements. The series can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
Vin Diesel will reprise his role as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is set to be released in 2023. This film will mark James Gunn’s final installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy series. Additionally, there will be a Holiday Special releasing in December of this year.
