Keanu Reeves’ Constantine 2 Return Confirmed With Original Director

Warner Bros is set to develop a new installment of the supernatural thriller film “Constantine” from 2005. The studio will reunite star Keanu Reeves and director Francis Lawrence, who previously worked together on the original film. The screenplay will be written by Akiva Goldsman, and the project will be produced by Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road Pictures, along with J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella from Bad Robot.

When it was released in 2005, the film featuring Keanu Reeves as the DC character Constantine was a box office success, earning over $200 million worldwide. It introduced viewers to the intricate world of the character and generated enthusiasm among fans for a sequel. In the upcoming installment, Reeves will return to portray the supernatural exorcist and demonologist John Constantine. In the original film, Constantine is facing his own mortality but continues to protect humanity by preventing demons from crossing over to Earth. He also becomes involved in a conflict between the archangel Gabriel and Lucifer.

Warner Bros Pictures Group co-chairs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy were involved in overseeing and finalizing this deal.
