“Behind-the-Scenes: Star Spotted Filming Crowd Scene for Todd Phillips’ ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Set to Release in 2024”
Lady Gaga is fully committed to embodying her character in the upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux. Recently, she was spotted in New York City during the filming of the sequel to Todd Phillips’ acclaimed 2019 movie Joker. Speculations suggest that Gaga will portray DC’s Harley Quinn, and the released images provide a glimpse of her in costume and complete makeup, supporting these assumptions.
The recently captured images depict Lady Gaga being accompanied by Gotham police officers in a crowded scene. The surrounding area is filled with what appears to be protesters, holding signs with messages like “Free Joker” and “Joker Marry Me.” This scene suggests a dynamic and intense atmosphere in the film.
On February 14, director Todd Phillips gave a glimpse of Lady Gaga in character by sharing a close-up image on Instagram. The photo featured Gaga holding the face of her co-star Joaquin Phoenix. Phillips captioned the post with “Happy Valentine’s Day,” teasing fans with this intriguing glimpse into their characters’ relationship in the film.
In December, Todd Phillips had announced the commencement of shooting by sharing a photo of Joaquin Phoenix in character. Phoenix, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Arthur Fleck in the 2019 film, returns to reprise his role in the sequel. The film, which features a script by Phillips and Scott Silver, continues the story of Arthur Fleck’s journey.
Warner Bros.’s Joker, which centered around the character of Arthur Fleck, an aspiring comedian struggling with mental health challenges, achieved tremendous success, grossing over $1 billion. The sequel, titled Folie à Deux, takes its name from a medical term that describes a mental disorder affecting two or more individuals, typically within the same family.
The upcoming movie, along with Matt Reeves’ sequel to The Batman, will be part of the DC Elseworlds titles, which exist outside of the shared universe slate currently being developed by DC Studios under the guidance of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Warner Bros. is set to release Joker: Folie à Deux on Oct. 4, 2024.
