The ‘Creed 3’ trailer is almost too shredded for words

The ‘Creed 3’ trailer is almost too shredded for words

The initial Creed film was so inspiring that it made you feel like running a lap around the entire world. It was a unique revival of a franchise that told its own powerful and joyful story. The movie followed the journey of Adonis Creed, the son of the late Apollo Creed who became a heavyweight champion in his own right after being mentored by Rocky Balboa. The second film didn’t live up to expectations, but the first glimpse of the third sequel seems to indicate a remarkable comeback.

Creed 3 features Michael B. Jordan returning not only as the lead actor but also as the director. The upcoming film appears to delve into a more intimate and personal narrative compared to its predecessor. While the previous film revolved around a match between Donnie Creed (Michael B. Jordan) and the son of Rocky Balboa’s (Sylvester Stallone) rival Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), a formidable boxer from the Soviet Union who tragically caused the death of Creed’s father Apollo in the boxing ring.

Creed 3 puts the spotlight firmly on Adonis Creed, with the absence of Rocky Balboa. Jonathan Majors portrays Anderson Dame, a childhood friend of Creed who experienced a challenging upbringing without the privilege of boxing legacy to rely on. The trailer hints at a confrontational dynamic between the two characters as Adonis tries to extend a welcoming hand to Anderson, but encounters hostility instead. The boxing ring becomes the ultimate arena to resolve their differences and conflicts.

The trailer serves as an excellent marketing tool for the film and builds up anticipation for the intense Creed-Dame fight. Both Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors display impressive physical fitness, captivating the audience with their charismatic presence. Interestingly, the premise of Creed 3 parallels Jordan’s previous notable role, where Majors embodies a character similar to Killmonger from Black Panther, representing a past figure seeking his rightful place. The prospect of their confrontation in the film is highly anticipated and eagerly awaited.

Creed 3 will premiere on March 3, 2023.
