The Fantastic Beasts series has been a welcome return to the wizarding world for Potterheads all across the world. With the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, that world is getting bigger.
It’s been a long time since we’ve had a Fantastic Beasts movie on our screens, as the previous installment The Crimes of Grindelwald was released all the way back in 2018.
But now, after various production delays due to the pandemic and the recasting of its central villain Gellert Grindelwald, the first official trailer for the long-awaited sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, is here – and it offers a first look at the trouble brewing in the wizarding world.
The third movie in the series and a sequel to 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Fantastic Beasts 3 is directed by David Yates, with a screenplay by J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves. The film will see the return of Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, with a dangerous new mission. Inspired by Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a companion book to her massively popular Harry Potter novels, the Fantastic Beasts franchise works as a prequel to the Harry Potter movies. The series explores the history of the Wizarding World, involving many important figures. The new entry takes the action to the 1930s, with war looming on the horizon for both the muggle and magical communities.
You already know guts, most of the Potterheads, actually most of the Depp’s fans are expressing displeasure about the movie. And also you know what the reason is. Warner Bros. Pictures had made major casting changes as Mads Mikkelsen has taken over from Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. After all that though, it seems as though things are on track for the new movie to arrive in cinemas very soon.
Two trailers have been released so far with the second trailer released yesterday (Feb 28). Much like the film’s first official trailer, which was released back in December, the new Secrets of Dumbledore trailer (the trailer which released on Feb 28) follows our magical heroes as they prepare to combat the growing forces of the villainous wizard known as Gellert Grindelwald. The footage highlights the dark wizard’s growing influence in the Wizarding World as Albus Dumbledore recruits a team of allies to challenge his nemesis’ plan. Fans will undoubtedly recognize several characters from the previous films, including Newt Scamander and his loyal friend Jacob Kowalski who is seemingly inducted into the world of magic as he gets his own wand.
Fantastic Beasts The Secrets of Dumbledore release date
The film was originally slated for a November 12, 2021 release, but production was delayed due to the epidemic. Following Depp’s resignation from the franchise, the film was pushed back to July 2022. However finally Warner Bros moved it forward to April 2022.
Accordingly, the third entry in the Fantastic Beasts series of Harry Potter prequel movies, The Secrets of Dumbledore is set to premiere in the United Kingdom on Friday, April 8, and in the United States on Friday, April 15. And for those of you who prefer watching movies at home, the film is also set to arrive on HBO Max 45 days after its theatrical premiere. Set in the 1930s amid the lead-up to World War II, the film sees a young Albus enlist a group of witches and wizards in a bid to take down Grindelwald.

As you already know and as we have already mentioned above there have been two trailers released so far regarding the movie.
The first trailer arrived in December 2021 and saw Dumbledore give Newt an ominous warning about how “the world as we know it is coming undone”, adding: “Grindelwald is pulling it apart with hate. If we’re to defeat him, you’ll have to trust me”. You can watch that trailer below and refresh your memory again.
Following the announcement of Jude Lowe, we expected the second trailer to come out on February 24th. However, its release was delayed and it finally arrived on February 28, bringing more magical action and teasers for the big showdown between Dumbledore and his greatest enemy, Grindelwald. The Secrets of Dumbledore Cast
Leading the charge in The Secrets of Dumbledore is series protagonist Newt, a magizoologist and the author of the fictional book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which would go on to become required reading for the students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore features a number of returning cast members, as well as some new additions. The cast for the movie includes,

Main new cast members include Oliver Masucci, Richard Coyle (Aberfoth Dumbledore), and Maria Fernanda Cândido. Additionally, Mads Mikkelsen will be taking over as Gellert Grindelwald, replacing Johnny Depp.
THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS LEAK SPOILS THE MAIN PLOT OF THE SEQUEL
Talking about replacing Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, Mikkelsen told last year: “Well it’s going to be me, so that’s a difference. No, this is the tricky part. There has to be a bridge between what Johnny did and what I’m going to do.
“And at the same time, I also have to make it my own,” he added. “But also we have to find a few links [to the previous version of the character] and some bridges so it doesn’t completely detach from what he’s already masterfully achieved.”
Fantastic Beasts The Secrets of Dumbledore plot
The Fantastic Beasts franchise has been leading up to the climactic battle between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald, a duel that will be talked about for ages to come. But so far, Dumbledore has stayed out of the conflict, due to the blood pact that prevents him from facing Grindelwald in direct combat. Fantastic Beasts 3 will see that impasse tested as Grindelwald gets more powerful, forcing Dumbledore to take drastic steps. However, in the second trailer, we see a duel between Albus and Grindelwald. We can assume that it will be a small duel without a win or a loss between them.
While that’s building up, the main part of the story will involve Dumbledore sending Newt and his friends on a mission that pits them against Grindelwald’s army. This mission will take them around the world and bring Newt face to face with dangerous forces, powerful wizards and witches, and of course, some more fantastic beasts.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for the movie:
“Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?”
Will Fantastic Beasts 3 Have a Sequel?
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will not be the last story in the series, as there will be at least two more movies in the franchise. Rowling announced in 2016 that the Fantastic Beasts series would consist of five films so there’s definitely plenty more for fans to look forward to after this one. Of course, we don’t know what those movies will be about yet but rest assured that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Newt Scamander even after Fantastic Beasts 3.
