According to a report from Deadline, Hugh Jackman openly discussed his choice to retire from playing Wolverine. The actor mentioned a particular moment when he was watching the movie Deadpool and decided that his portrayal of Wolverine in Logan would be his final appearance in the series.

The actor who played Wolverine revealed, “I was about 20 minutes into watching Deadpool, and just a few weeks earlier, I had officially announced that Logan would be my final film as Wolverine, and I genuinely intended to stick with that decision. But then, I had a realization… I was driving to the beach during my week off from The Music Man on Broadway. It was mid-August, and it struck me like, ‘I really want to be a part of that.’ And that was the moment.”

Hugh Jackman further revealed that he even has visualizations of Ryan Reynolds standing outside his house, persistently trying to convince him to come out of retirement. “As soon as I arrived at the beach, I called Ryan just to find out what the heck was going on. And then, well, here we are. It happened so quickly. And let me tell you, there isn’t a morning where Ryan Reynolds isn’t outside my house with posters pleading, ‘Please.’ He constantly brings it up and asks me about it. And I kept telling him, ‘Dude, I’m done. I’m done, I’m done, I’m done, I’m done, I’m done.’ So when he called me back, he asked, ‘Are you serious?’ And yeah, I’m a terrible poker player. All this time, I genuinely meant it when I said I was done. But somehow, deep down, this idea was obviously lurking and brewing.”

In the meantime, Hugh Jackman is getting ready to return as Wolverine for the highly anticipated film Deadpool 3, alongside Ryan Reynolds.
