Prey is an upcoming science fiction action film directed by Dan Trachtenberg. It is the fifth installment in the Predator franchise. It will be a prequel to the other films in the franchise and will showcase a Predator and his first journey to Earth. The film will be released on Hulu in 2022.
Prey is set in the year 1719 and sees Naru, a fierce young Native American woman, yearning to prove her worth as a warrior — bringing her face to face with the infamous movie monster on a new hunt. Previous reports suggested this next Predator film was being developed by 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg under the name Skulls.
Background
Prey is the fifth installment in the Predator franchise. The Franchise began with a gloriously muscular 1987 action flick starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The series centers on an advanced alien race called Predators who seek out the best prey in the galaxy. In addition to Predator 2 (1990), Predators (2010), and The Predator (2018), the series has launched a media franchise spanning comics as well as the Alien vs. Predator films, which sees the property cross over with the monsters in Ridley Scott’s Alien.
The previous installment, 2018’s The Predator, was a box office and critical disappointment. The news of Prey’s premise and the title was released as part of Disney+ Day (Nov 12, 2021), which included a look at the Disney-controlled Hulu’s upcoming slate as well.
Cast of Prey
Casting for Prey has been shrouded in secrecy and very little has been released so far. We do know Amber Midthunder will be playing the lead role of Kee/Naru. She’s best known for her roles in the television series Legion and Roswell. Stefany Mathias, we believe, will be playing the role of Aruka, the mother of Kee/Naru and Taabe. Dakota Beavers and Dane Diliegro also have roles.

Release Date of Prey
It’s not clear whether “Prey” will be released in theaters. However, Prey is scheduled to be released on Hulu in the summer of 2022.
