Netflix’s gripping action film, ‘Extraction,’ remains the streamer’s biggest film to date. Reportedly 99 million households watched the movie in its first four weeks. Starring Chris Hemsworth, the film follows Tyler Rake, a black-market mercenary hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. The sequel will bring Tyler on another deadly extraction mission, with Hemsworth reprising the role.
Sam Hargrave will also return to direct the sequel, and the Russo Brothers will also come back as executive producers on the movie.

Will There Be ‘Extraction 2’?
Yes, ‘Extraction 2’ is officially happening. Extraction is Netflix’s most successful Original movie ever, so it is not surprising that a sequel will follow suit.
We heard about the sequel as early as 2020, with Joe Russo hired to pen the script for the sequel.
“The deal is closed for me to write Extraction 2, and we are in the formative stages of what the story can be,” Joe Russo told Deadline in 2020.
When Will ‘Extraction 2’ Release?
Netflix is yet to announce a release date for the Extraction sequel. With the current filming schedule, ‘Extraction 2’ will likely be available by late 2022. ( Maybe July or August 2022 )
The first film was released on Netflix on 24 April 2020.
Is There An Official Trailer ?
Filming for ‘Extraction 2’ has just started in December 2021, so there is no official trailer at the moment. However, Netflix already released a teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel during the “Tudum” event in September 2021.
The teaser recaps the final moments of Tyler Rake from the first film. After getting shot in the neck, Tyler falls into the river under the bridge. He lied still for a few seconds underwater. Suddenly, he opens his eyes and the word #RakeLives” appears on the screen. You can watch the teaser below.
What Is The Plot Of ‘Extraction 2’?
Tyler Rake returns, ready to take on the next mission with his team. He now takes another job of extracting a family taken by a Georgian gangster. To do this, he must infiltrate one of the world’s deadliest prisons. When the gangster dies during the mission, his equally ruthless brother swears revenge and tracks down Tyler and his team in Sydney.

So far, the only cast member confirmed is Chris Hemsworth. He will reprise his role as Tyler Rake in the upcoming sequel. We expect to know more soon as the film is already in production.
