There have been a ton of great Netflix Originals that have captured the hearts of audiences over the last number of years. While shows like Stranger Things and Umbrella Academy get talked about to death, one of the streamer’s most underrated series is Warrior Nun. Fans of the biblical coming-of-age story have been waiting for Season 2 for a while now. However, fear not as Warrior Nun season 2 has received a release date of November 10, alongside a new trailer.
Warrior Nun season 2 is coming to Netflix globally on November 10th, 2022. Here’s an updated everything-you-need-to-know guide for Warrior Nun season 2, including who will star, where the show is in production, what to expect, and more!
What is about Warrior Nun
Warrior Nun is based on the Warrior Nun Areala comic series that first debuted in 1994 and was created by Ben Dunn. The story follows Ava Silva, a woman that starts the series dead, though is resurrected by the use of a magical and holy artifact that is embedded into her back. With this Halo of the Angel Adriel now bonded to her, which grants her supernatural abilities, she becomes part of the Order of the Cruciform Sword, an ancient sect of devout women sworn to battle demons. With the reveal about Adriel that we saw in the series’ first season, viewers are excited to see how Ava will tackle her position as a leader as she continues to hone her skills and powers.
A teaser for the series was released on Netflix’s Geeked Week 2022 event.
The teaser recapped the major plot events in the first season, like when Ava was brought back from the dead and was initiated as a Warrior Nun. We also see glimpses of all the action that could happen in the second season now that Ava has a better grip on her powers and a clearer view of the enemy. The action-packed trailer catches us back up with Ava, played by Alba Baptista, after the massive cliffhanger at the end of Season 1. Ava’s now preparing The Order of the Cruciform Sword for the pending war against Adriel. The demon’s influence has been growing since the last time we saw him. Throughout the trailer, there are many compelling scenes of the characters drawing lines in the sand, with Ava tensely meeting back up with Father Vincent after he betrayed her last season. At the same time, Cardinal Duretti appears to be corrupted by Adriel. You can watch the trailer for Warrior Nun season 2 here:
Warrior Nun Season 2 Plot
By the end of season one, we learn that Adriel is not really an angel after he touches Ava and she learns his true identity. The first knights of the order mistook him for an angel after he killed the Tarask monster that followed him out of the demonic portal.
Adriel created the Order of the Cruciform Sword and hid it in the tombs of the Vatican. He used the Order to be protected from heaven and hid the Halo inside the original Warrior Nun.
Shotgun Mary succumbed to Adriel’s possessed forces, leaving Ava and the other sisters to defeat evil forces.
Season 2 may start with Ava going after Adriel and his army, hopefully being able to defeat the demon now that she has embraced her powers.
The synopsis for this season is as follows, “Ava and the Sister-Warriors of the OCS must find a way to defeat the angel, Adriel, as he attempts to build his following into the dominant religion on the planet.” However, the main thing this footage introduces is a new weapon in Ava’s arsenal that is the key to stopping him. A mystical halo-looking disc that we see Ava taking from a statue is what defeated Adriel the first time around. Fingers crossed it’s exactly what the OCS needs to win again. The trailer also introduces a new group called The Samaritans, whose goal is to expose the church for who they really are. It’s too soon to tell if they’re going to be an outright ally to the OCS, but at least at the start of the season, Ava will be teaming up with them.
Warrior Nun season 2 cast
Eternal blessings grant the main cast of Warrior Nun’s first season because if they don’t return for season two, hell is bound to break loose.
Alba Baptista continues fighting for the church as Warrior Nun Ava. We may also see the return of the rest of the nunnery, with Ava’s sisters joining the fight, including Kristina Tonteri-Young as Sister Beatrice, Lorena Andrea as Sister Lilith, Toya Turner as Sister Mary (also known as the badass Shotgun Mary), and Thekla Reuten as Jillian Salvius. The other actors who may come back to reprise their roles are Sylvia De Fanti, who plays the Mother Superior, and Tristen Ulloa, who acts as Father Vincent.
The main villain of season two may still be William Miller’s Adriel, the self-styled angel who was outed to be the real villain of the series.
There will be new faces joining the series for season 2; these are Meena Rayann, who play Yasmine Amunet, Jack Mullarkey as Miguel, and Richard Clothier as Cardinal William Foster.
Warrior Nun season 2 release date
Along with the release of the trailer, Netflix also unveiled the official release date for Warrior Nun season 2. The series joins a jam-packed fall line-up with its release date set for Thursday, Nov. 10.
