Inside Out 2 Trailer Reveals First look at New Emotion, Anxiety

“I’m Anxiety – Where can i put my stuff?”

Inside Out 2 Trailer: Riley is about to experience a whirlwind of emotions in Inside Out 2. A recent preview for the upcoming Pixar animated sequel introduces a fresh emotion: Anxiety, portrayed by Maya Hawke and characterized by a disheveled appearance.

“Maya Hawke, who plays Anxiety, is a newcomer to the team, but she doesn’t like staying in the background,” explained director Kelsey Mann. “If you consider it in terms of what happens in our minds, it makes a lot of sense.”

The latest trailer transports us back into Riley’s mind as she enters adolescence. When a demolition crew arrives at headquarters, it appears that significant changes are on the horizon.

Here’s the initial summary for Inside Out 2: “In Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2, we revisit the mind of the freshly minted teenager, Riley, precisely as headquarters faces an abrupt demolition to pave the way for something entirely unforeseen: new Emotions! Despite the long-standing success of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust in running the show, the arrival of Anxiety leaves them uncertain about their emotions. And it appears she’s not the only newcomer.”

Alonside the new trailer, a new inside out 2 poster also debuted:

Amy Poehler reprises her role as Joy, and the returning cast includes Phyllis Smith as Sadness and Lewis Black as Anger. Joining them is Maya Hawke as Anxiety, along with newcomer Liza Lapira stepping into the role of Disgust, previously portrayed by Mindy Kaling in the original film. Additionally, Tony Hale takes on the character of Fear, succeeding Bill Hader. The sequel is directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen. Inside Out 2 is set to premiere in theaters in the summer of 2024.
