Rachel Zegler, the fortunate actress chosen to play Snow White in the live-action version, made her onscreen debut in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 remake of West Side Story. She co-starred with Ansel Elgort and Ariana DeBose and received the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical.
Rachel Zegler’s casting as Snow White in the live-action adaptation was officially announced in June 2021. Director Marc Webb praised her extraordinary vocal abilities, stating that they were just the beginning of her gifts. Rachel herself expressed her excitement on Instagram, writing, “Well… hello to a dream come true.” To prepare for the role, she later cut her hair into a short bob to embody the iconic Disney princess.

Ultimately, I’m thrilled to take on this role and embrace the chance to be a Latina princess.”
The Plot
The upcoming Snow White movie is a live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” from 1937. To bring a fresh perspective and avoid repeating stereotypes from the original animated film, Disney is taking a new approach to the seven dwarf characters. The lead actress, Zegler, has suggested that the story will also undergo contemporary revisions to resonate with a more progressive audience, as hinted at during the D23 event.
In the absence of the iconic Seven Dwarfs from the original movie, Disney has decided to modify the title to simply “Snow White.” Additionally, a new character is introduced as Snow White’s love interest. The last addition to the cast of the remake is Andrew Burnap, who will portray a new character named Jonathan. Snow White Live Action Release Date
At the 2022 D23 Expo Presentation, they revealed that Snow White would come out in 2024, specifically on March 22. Unfortunately, because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the movie got postponed by a whole year. So now, Snow White is scheduled to hit theaters on March 21, 2025.
