The Cast Of ‘The Parent Trap’ Remake, Then & now

The Parent Trap:Twenty-five years ago, Lindsay Lohan made her first appearance in a movie, starring in the remake of The Parent Trap. In the film, she portrayed identical twins named Annie and Hallie.

Once, there were twin sisters who got separated at birth, and each grew up with a different parent. They had no idea of each other’s existence until they met for the first time at summer camp. The two cleverly devised a plan to switch places secretly. Their ultimate goal was to bring their parents back together and rekindle their love for each other. Their scheme was successful, and they achieved their heartfelt mission.

The movie is a modern version of the 1961 Disney film that starred Hayley Mills, which itself was based on Erich Kastner’s novel called “Lottie and Lisa.” The remake became a hit at the box office and received praise from critics, particularly for Lindsay Lohan, the young actress who played the lead role.

Even after more than twenty years, fans still have fond memories of the movie, especially the scene where Oreos dipped in peanut butter became a beloved childhood treat inspired by the film.

In 2020, to mark the film’s 22nd anniversary, Katie Couric brought the stars of the movie back together on her Instagram channel. This reunion included the writer-director Nancy Meyers and writer-producer Charles Shyer. During the gathering, they all shared their favorite scenes, memorable lines, and cherished memories from the time they spent making the movie.

As the film celebrates its 25th anniversary, let’s take a look at what the cast members have been doing since the movie was released on July 29, 1998.
