Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are making a comeback in Bad Boys 4.
Get ready for more Bad Boys action – It’s almost like a reunion from the first one in 1995. Interestingly, there were only eight years between the first two movies, thirteen between the second and third, and now it’s expected to be less than five for the fourth. Whatever the reason, the next movie is heating up with many of the fans’ favorite cast and crew making a comeback.
In “Bad Boys for Life,” Will Smith and Martin Lawrence reprise their roles as Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. The third Bad Boys movie had them facing off against drug lord Isabel Aretas and her dangerous son Armando Armas, who surprisingly turns out to be Mike’s long-lost son. Even though “Bad Boys 4” was confirmed quickly, production didn’t start right away. Thankfully, the next Bad Boys movie is in the works, and the slow progress is due to various factors, aiming to make “Bad Boys 4” a carefully planned sequel for the franchise.

In September, Director Adil El Arbi hinted at a potential title for the film, mentioning ‘Bad Boys Ride Or Die,’ though it’s not officially confirmed. He also shared some story details, indicating it would bring closure to Marcus’ character arc and have a more comedic tone than the previous installment. This is intriguing, considering Marcus is usually the more serious one. The suggestion of it being the end for Marcus in the franchise adds another layer, although there’s no confirmation that this will be the final Bad Boys movie.
Bad Boys 4: Cast
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are set to reprise their roles as the main “Bad Boys,” Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowery and Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett.
Returning from the previous film will be Vanessa Hudgens as Kelly, Alexander Ludwig as Dom, Paola Núñez as Captain Rita Secada, and DJ Khaled as Manny the Butcher. Additionally, John Salley, who portrayed the computer-hacking Fletcher in the first two Bad Boys films, will be making a comeback for the fourth installment.
In addition to the returning cast, new faces are joining the lineup for Bad Boys 4. Melanie Liburd is set to join the cast, with her character named Christine, although the specific details about her role are still unknown. Many fans recognize Liburd from her role as Zoe in the TV drama “This is Us”. The film will also feature Eric Dane, known for his role as Cal Jacobs in the HBO drama series “Euphoria,” as the main villain. Similar to Liburd, little information is available about his character beyond being labeled as the villain.
The latest addition to the Bad Boys 4 cast is Rhea Seehorn, renowned for her portrayal of Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. Seehorn’s inclusion is a significant move for the action sequel, given her impressive dramatic skills and two Emmy nominations for her work in the Breaking Bad spinoff. However, details about Seehorn’s character in Bad Boys 4 are currently undisclosed, leaving her role a mystery.
What Will ‘Bad Boys 4’ Be About?
Similar to the previous Bad Boys films, the upcoming installment is likely to revolve around a drug bust, featuring a blend of intense action. Although no official confirmation has been provided, there have been hints and possibilities teased from the storylines of the earlier Bad Boys films.
In a post-credits scene from Bad Boys 4 Life, there’s a suggestion that Armando Aretas, also known as Armando Lowrey, might still be part of the upcoming installment. Armando, portrayed by Jacob Scipio, was revealed to be Mike Lowery’s unknown son. The scene hints that Mike Lowery might be seeking to leverage his connection with Armando for assistance in a case. Despite Armando’s involvement in criminal activities and his current imprisonment, it raises the possibility of an intriguing backstory yet to unfold.
El Arbi also disclosed that the fourth film will have a different tone compared to the third installment, stating:
“But yeah, what’s going to happen in this one is, I think that there’s going to be way more comedy. The third one had the dramatic tone. With this one, it’s really our purpose to get people laughing and having a good time in the theater. Martin [Lawrence] is going to a higher level in this one. This is the culmination of the Marcus Burnett arc.”Director Adil El Arbi
