Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Dismissed From DC?

“Wonder Woman 3 Starring Gal Gadot Put on Hold, James Gunn Dispels Rumors of Removal from the Universe”

DC Universe is undergoing a significant reboot under the new leadership of Co-Chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. There have been frequent updates about changes in the universe, such as the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 with Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill’s departure as Superman. Some characters are also being recast, and Ben Affleck has expressed his interest in directing a DC movie. Among all these updates, the cancellation of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman chapter 3 has been particularly disappointing for fans.

In a recent Instagram post, James Gunn has responded to the backlash he and Peter Safran have received following their publicized decisions. However, it is his response to a random stranger’s comment about Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman that has grabbed our attention. Read on to learn more!

James Gunn took to his Instagram account to discuss the future of DC and their plans moving forward. In a portion of his post, he stated:

“When Peter and I took on the role of leading DC Studios, we were aware that there is a certain group of individuals online who can be quite vocal and unkind, to say the least. We knew that there would be a period of turbulence as we embarked on this journey, and we understood that we would sometimes need to make difficult and less obvious choices, especially considering the contentious nature of what came before us. However, these concerns hold little significance when compared to our primary responsibilities as artists and custodians, as we strive to create a broad and magnificent future for DC.”

However, a DC fan commented on the post, expressing their excitement for what James Gunn has in store for DC. They also mentioned their lack of confidence due to the speculated exits of Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot, especially after their return was announced. In response, James Gunn directly addressed the comment, expressing his confusion about the notion that they “booted” Gal Gadot from the franchise. He made it clear that he didn’t believe in such speculations and denied any intention of removing her from the project.

Recently, Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman, addressed the rumors and clarified the truth behind the cancellation of the third installment. In a tweet, she explained:

“When there was a backlash about Wonder Woman 3 not happening, false stories started spreading that I was the one who killed it or walked away. This is simply untrue. I never walked away. I was open to considering any request. However, it was my understanding that there were external circumstances preventing the project from moving forward at this time. DC is currently undergoing significant changes, and I understand that these decisions are challenging given the circumstances they are facing.”

In her statement, Jenkins dismissed the false narrative that she was responsible for the cancellation and emphasized her willingness to continue with the project. She also acknowledged the ongoing changes within DC and the difficulties they are currently facing.
