Hellsing Live Action Feature In the Works at Amazon Studios From John Wick Writer Derek Kolstad

Derek Kolstad, known for his work on John Wick, is set to work on a live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga/anime Hellsing for Amazon Studios.

Kouta Hirano’s rendition of the Dracula/Van Helsing story, originally published by Shōnen Gahōsha, transforms the legendary vampire into Alucard. Alucard becomes a special agent tied to The Hellsing Organization, led by Integra Hellsing, the great-granddaughter of Abraham Van Hellsing. Their mission is to safeguard England and the world from vampires, ghouls, and other supernatural dangers. The manga also centers on Seras Victoria, Hellsing’s latest recruit and a former female police officer.

Derek Kolstad expressed his excitement about adapting Hellsing, stating, “Ever since my brother introduced me to the Hellsing manga and anime some years ago, I’ve been obsessed with adapting it. And when Mike Callaghan and his team managed to secure the rights to then partner us up with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Amazon, I mean -damn, dude- this is a dream.”

Kolstad will produce the film alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger of Automatik, Mike Callaghan and Reuben Liber of Ranger 7 Films, and Jason Lust of Soluble Fish Productions.

Kavanaugh-Jones expressed excitement about partnering with Derek Kolstad, praising his exceptional writing skills and expertise in creating rich mythology with iconic characters.

While there’s no additional information available at this time, there are rumors circulating that Keanu Reeves might be considered for a role in the adaptation.

Indeed, while it’s important to note that these are just rumors and speculative discussions, it’s understandable why some might think Keanu Reeves would be a fitting choice for the role of Alucard in the Hellsing adaptation.
