Baby Groot is coming to town! Marvel Studios has released the first poster for its animated series, I am Groot. The poster confirms the series of original shorts will debut on August 10 on Disney+.
It’s hard to find an MCU fan who doesn’t love Groot, especially Baby Groot. Disney is no fool, and the studios decided to give “everyone’s favorite tree” his own show on Disney+.
I Am Groot is a Guardians of the Galaxy spin-off starring Baby Groot. Groot is a Flora colossus who first appears as a companion to Rocket Racoon. In the Guardians of the Galaxy, we get to know Groot when he is held in Kylin and teams up with the other guardians to steal the Orb. By the end of the first movie, we are all so in love with this gentle giant that our hearts break when he sacrifices himself to save his friends. Rocket finds a part of the original Groot and plants it to give birth to Baby Groot.
Baby Groot became one of the most loved Marvel characters. And now that he has his own series, many fans are excited to see the show. Here is everything we know about I Am Groot the series to help tide you over.
What We Think I Am Groot is About
The series is loosely based on Stan Lee’s conception of Groot.
Marvel and Disney have been very secretive about the plot of I Am Groot, so there is still no information about what will happen in the series. The series will have five original short episodes with new characters we have not met before. Marvel’s tweet revealed the series poster showing Groot chilling alongside two cute aliens.
We last saw Groot as an adolescent in Avengers: Endgame. However, the Disney+ series seems to back to its roots to show us the adventures of the Baby Groot we all have come to love. Moreso, Groot has come a long way since the first Guardians movie, Gunn told in a 2017 interview.
“Now everyone knows Groot so well that we have much larger awareness, me and the cast, of a baby Groot being there at all times. And him being one of the members in the scene…I think he’s a better-written character than the first Groot in some ways. Not that he was poorly written at all, but I think he’s just a more complete character.” We have seen and loved Groot’s transition from a full-grown Flora Colossus sacrificing himself in the first movie to the adorable baby form who loves to dance in the sequel. He turns into a pesky teenager during Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. It’s time we see him on a solo adventure.
I Am Groot Cast
Vin Diesel will return to lend his voice to Baby Groot in this stand-alone animated series. There is still no news if any of the other guardians will join Groot in his show, but we are on stand-by for any news released prior to the release of the series.
“I Am Groot” will stream on Disney+ as one of the many Marvel television shows coming to the company’s streaming platform. Accordingly, the series is set to come out on August 10, 2022, in Disney+.
