A final supersized final season of Manifest is coming exclusively to Netflix globally in November 2022. In honor of the upcoming season, welcome to our very own supersized preview for Manifest, digging into everything we know and expect from season 4 of Manifest.
Fans of the drama series had kept a close eye ever since its cancellation to see which streamer could potentially save the day and bring it back to life, and our favorite platform is, fortunately, the one to do it!
Manifest was added to Netflix in June 2021, right before the Manifest season 3 finale aired on NBC. The show was one of the top shows and movies on Netflix for at least two months.
Only the first two seasons of Manifest were added to Netflix in June 2021, but fans were pleasantly surprised when Manifest season 3 dropped without warning in August.
Wait, I thought Manifest was canceled?
I mean…technically, yes, it was. NBC axed the show back on June 14, 2021. The move was actually a last-minute decision for the network because cast contracts were set to expire the next day. It was also surprising for some newer fans since the show was at the top of the Netflix Top 10 as more people binged the series for the first time.
The full trailer for Manifest Season 4 dropped during Netflix’s TUDUM on Saturday, Sept. 24. The trailer not only reunited fans with the survivors of Flight 828 but also gave several big hints about where the show is going in its final season. The survivors are in a race against the clock to figure out what their purpose is before their death day arrives in 18 months and before they can be hunted down by a mysterious killer. Can they figure out what that storm really did to them and why they were chosen for this mysterious path?
At Netflix’s Geeked Week, the streamer released a sneak preview of Season 4. In the scene, Michaela Stone snoops around a shipping yard in search of something. What she finds, though, is something she wasn’t expecting. (And kind of gross, too.)
Manifest Season 4 Cast
Given that Manifest was canceled and then picked up by Netflix, the time has passed in the story, and characters have died, the cast for Season 4 will be a mix of familiar and missing faces. Accordingly, most of the main cast — including Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, and J.R. Ramirez — will return. And also, Athena Karkanis, whose character Grace Stone died in Season 3, will not be back. And Jack Messina, who played young Cal Stone, will be replaced by an older actor, Ty Doran, because of the two-year time jump.
Manifest Main Cast
- Melissa Roxburgh as Michaela Stone
- Josh Dallas as Ben Stone
- J.R. Ramirez as Jared Vasquez
- Luna Blaise as Olive Stone
- Ty Doran as Cal Stone
- Parveen Kaur as Saanvi Bahl
- Matt Long as Zeke Landon
- Holly Taylor as Angelina Meyer
- Daryl Edwards as Robert Vance
The Road to Manifest Season 4 on Netflix
Before we look to the future, let’s look at the road to Manifest season 4 on Netflix.
Manifest’s story began in 2018 when Flight 828 took off in the pilot episode on NBC. The series gripped viewers being the 9th top-rated show on NBC that season. NBC ordered a second and a third season however, viewership had dropped substantially over time.
Season 1 reportedly had 12.61 million viewers on average, dropping by over half when season 3 began airing.
In the summer of 2021, the writing was on the wall for Manifest; this is where the timeline with Netflix begins.
NBC canceled the show shortly after Manifest’s season 3 finale aired on June 10th, 2021. In a likely last effort ditch to give the show some more exposure, Warner Brothers Television (who is the main owner of the show) licensed seasons 1-2 to Netflix on June 10th, 2021.
Since the revival of the show, Netflix has revealed that between June 27th and September 12th, seasons 1-3 were watched at least 214,520,000 million hours just in the United States and Canada.
Manifest Season 4 Plot
Without giving away spoilers from the exciting Manifest season 3 finale, the fourth season will continue to put the pieces together for the endgame. A major character returned, a major character faced tragedy, and the 828s learned new information that could help solve the mystery.
As the death date draws nearer for the Flight 828 passengers, it’s a race against the clock for Ben, Michaela, Saanvi, and the whole team to figure out what happened to them, where they went, and how to save themselves from the time on their second chance running out.
Josh Dallas spoke about season 4 in December 2021, giving us a tease for what we can expect from his character Ben. “To be honest… he’s not in a great place,” the actor said. Get the tissues ready for the new season!
For a SPOILER-FILLED look at what’s to come in Manifest season 4, here’s the synopsis Netflix released that confirms the two-year time jump:
Two years after the brutal murder of Grace turned their lives upside down, the Stone family is in shambles as a devastated Ben continues to mourn his wife and search for his kidnapped daughter, Eden. Consumed by his grief, Ben has stepped down from his role as co-captain of the lifeboat, leaving Michaela to captain it alone, a near impossible feat with the passengers’ every move now being monitored by a government registry. As the Death Date draws closer and the passengers grow desperate for a path to survival, a mysterious passenger arrives with a package for Cal that changes everything they know about Flight 828 and will prove to be the key to unlocking the secret of the Callings in this compelling, mind-bending, and deeply emotional journey.
However, there’s a small catch. Season 4 will be released in two parts, containing 10 episodes each. No release date has been announced for Part 2, and there’s no way to tell when Part 2 will be released.
As another special acknowledgment of the show’s Flight 828, Netflix announced the release date of Manifest season 4 on August 28, 2022. Accordingly, Manifest is officially coming back with season 4 on Friday, November 4 on Netflix.
