Krypto the Super-Dog, created by Otto Binder and Curt Swan, made his first appearance in Adventure Comics #210 in 1955. This white Labrador Retriever-like canine possesses superpowers similar to adult Kryptonians, such as heightened hearing and sense of smell. In the upcoming DC League of Super-Pets film, Dwayne Johnson voices Krypto the Superdog, who serves as the lead character. Kevin Hart lends his voice to Ace the Bat-Hound, Batman’s loyal canine companion. Marc Maron is confirmed to voice Lex Luthor, and Keanu Reeves takes on the role of Batman in the movie.

Other notable actors lending their voices to the DC League of Super-Pets film include Kate McKinnon from Saturday Night Live and the Magic School Bus Rides Again films, John Krasinski known for the Quiet Place films and Free Guy, Vanessa Bayer from Saturday Night Live, Natasha Lyonne known for Show Dogs and Ballmastrz 9009, Diego Luna from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Maya and the Three, Thomas Middleditch from Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, and Ben Schwartz from Sonic the Hedgehog and Duck Tales. They contribute to the star-studded voice cast of the movie.

Jared Stern and Sam Levine have been announced as the directors of DC League of Super-Pets. Stern has previously worked on The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, while Levine has worked on Bolt and Gnomeo & Juliet. With their backgrounds, the two are expected to bring a fun and entertaining experience for both adults and kids. Dwayne Johnson, who also stars in the movie, is producing it alongside his collaborators Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions company. Patricia Hicks and Jared Stern are co-producers, and John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, and Nicholas Stoller serve as executive producers.

Release Date

In January 2019, the original release date for DC League of Super-Pets was announced as May 21, 2021. However, the release date was later changed to May 20, 2022, to accommodate another Warner Bros. feature starring Keanu Reeves, The Matrix Resurrections. Subsequently, it was rescheduled once again to July 29, 2022, to avoid overlapping with the release of Black Adam.
