Julius Avery, who directed “Overlord” in 2018, is making another horror movie called “The Pope’s Exorcist,” which will be released on April 14. The first official trailer was released.

According to a recent report from Bloody Disgusting, Ralph Ineson, known for his roles in “The Witch” and “The Green Knight,” has been cast in the movie alongside Russell Crowe. Ineson will be providing the voice for the demon character in the film.

Recently, Franco Nero, known for his roles in “Django” and “John Wick: Chapter 2,” joined the cast of the movie as the titular pope. He will be starring alongside Russell Crowe, who will portray the real-life exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth. Other actors in the film include Laurel Marsden from “Ms. Marvel,” Cornell S. John, known for his role in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” will be starring in the movie. Additionally, Peter DeSouza-Feighoney, Alex Essoe from “Doctor Sleep,” and Daniel Zovatto from “It Follows” are also part of the cast.

Sony’s Screen Gems is producing “The Pope’s Exorcist,” which is based on the life of real-life exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth. Father Gabriele Amorth was a legendary Italian priest who conducted over 100,000 exorcisms for the Vatican. The movie will likely explore his experiences and encounters as an exorcist, providing an intriguing and potentially chilling storyline.

Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote the latest version of the script, with revisions made by Chuck MacLean. The screenplay is based on the original drafts written by Michael Petroni, which were then further revised by Chester Hastings and R. Dean McCreary.

The production of “The Pope’s Exorcist” will be handled by Doug Belgrad from 2.0 Entertainment, Michael Patrick Kaczmarek from Jesus & Mary, Jeff Katz from Worldwide Katz, and Eddie Siebert from Loyola Productions. They will be involved in producing the movie.

William Friedkin, the director of “The Exorcist,” shared the life story of Father Gabriele Amorth in a recent documentary called “The Devil and Father Amorth.” This documentary is available on different online platforms where you can watch movies.
